Termite Control

Termite Control in Northern Ohio and Southeast Michigan

Trusted Termite Treatments Since 1972

Few things threaten your home more than a termite infestation. These aggressive, wood-eating insects literally feed on your home, causing both cosmetic and structural damage. According to the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), termites account for over $5 billion in damage each year across the United States – most of it not covered by insurance. Though there are DIY termite treatments on the market, they may not successfully eliminate these silent destroyers and could even endanger your family and pets. You need the expertise of professional pest control technicians to dependably eliminate termite colonies.

Frame's Pest Control, Inc. is a third-generation family-owned and -operated business that has been eliminating pests in the local community for over 50 years. We use the Sentricon® termite colony elimination system, which allows foraging termites to bring the bait back to the colony to share, thus eliminating the colony and its termites from your property. Our licensed technicians are also constantly receiving training in the latest pest control technologies and techniques. By using a customized approach to each job, we are confident we can completely take care of your termite problem the first time. Signs of a Termite Infestation

Because of the potential for serious structural damage to your home, catching termites early is extremely important. The quicker you identify the presence of a termite infestation, the sooner you can eradicate it and minimize additional destruction and repair costs. Although termites usually work inside the walls and floors of your home with limited visibility, there are signs that indicate it may be time for a professional inspection to assess the situation.

Signs that termites may have moved into your home include:

  • Mud tubes leading to your home. Mud tubes are most commonly found along the foundation of a home, particularly near cracks, gaps, or crevices where the structure meets the soil. They may also appear on walls, ceilings, crawl spaces, or even inside wooden structures. These tunnels are built by termites to provide a protected pathway between their colony and a food source, such as the wooden structures in your house. The tubes are typically made of soil, wood particles, and termite saliva, serving as a humid and safe environment that shields the termites from predators and environmental conditions.
  • Cracks in door jams or cornices. Termites typically weaken the structural integrity of wood in your home over time. Their feeding habits can lead to hollowed-out sections within wooden components, which may result in visible splits or gaps forming on the surface. These cracks are not just cosmetic issues but may signify deeper damage within the wood.
  • Piles of sand-like dust. This powdered material, often referred to as frass, is actually termite droppings that are expelled as the insects tunnel through wood. The presence of frass typically signifies nearby feeding activity, as termites push this waste out of their galleries to keep their tunnels clear. These small mounds of pellet-like dust are usually found beneath infested wood, around baseboards, or near entry points where termites are actively working.
  • Doors and windows that have become difficult to open and close. As termites consume wood, they can cause the material to warp or swell due to the structural compromises and moisture they introduce. This warping often results in misaligned frames, making it harder for doors and windows to function properly. If these issues are accompanied by other signs of termites, such as visible damage or frass, it is likely that the infestation has affected the integrity of the surrounding wood.
  • Windowsills and moldings that break easily. Termites often hollow out wood as they feed, leaving behind a fragile outer layer that can easily crumble or snap under minimal pressure. This weakening of the wood compromises its structural integrity, making it susceptible to damage even with regular use or minor impact. If windowsills or moldings seem unusually delicate, it is important to examine the area for additional signs of termites, such as tunnels, frass, or visible damage to the wood.
  • Hollow-sounding wood. As termites feed, they consume the inner layers of wood, leaving behind a network of tunnels and empty spaces. When tapped or knocked on, affected wood often produces a distinct hollow sound, unlike the solid resonance of undamaged wood. This sound occurs because much of the wood's interior has been eaten away, significantly weakening its structure.
  • Piles of wings near windowsills and doors. “Swarmers” shed their wings after mating as they establish new colonies. These discarded wings often collect in small heaps around entry points like windows and doors. Their presence suggests that a colony is either nearby or in the process of forming within the structure itself.

How We Remove Termites and Prevent Them from Returning

The Sentricon® termite colony elimination system provides an effective solution to remove these pests and protect the property from future infestations. Our technicians at Frame's Pest Control, Inc. are highly trained in deploying and maintaining this state-of-the-art system to achieve reliable termite control in Northern Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

We start with a thorough inspection of the property to identify termite activity and locate vulnerable areas where worker termites are actively seeking food. By understanding the specific behaviors and patterns of the colony, our team can strategically place the Sentricon® bait stations around the property.

The Sentricon® system employs bait stations that contain a scientifically proven active ingredient designed to disrupt the growth and reproduction of termites. When worker termites encounter the bait in these stations, they consume it and carry it back to the colony, where it is shared with the rest of the termite population. Over time, the bait eliminates the entire colony, including the queen, which is vital for preventing any possibility of recovery or resurgence of the termite population.

Once the colony has been completely eradicated, our technicians can maintain ongoing monitoring and servicing of the Sentricon® system to safeguard the property from any new termite activity. We can periodically check the bait stations to confirm their condition and verify they remain effective at intercepting termites. This proactive approach allows our team to quickly address any signs of renewed termite presence before it can escalate into a larger problem. By combining our expertise with the advanced technology of the Sentricon® system, we can provide long-lasting relief to property owners dealing with termites, effectively breaking the cycle of infestation.
